Our History

Stretford Children’s Theatre was originally founded on the 26th April 1945 by Bertram H. Holland and 6 others.  It ceased to exist in the early 1980’s, but was re-formed in 2015 by a group of local people, and takes place at one of its original venues, Stretford Public Hall.

The Civic Theatre [Stretford Public Hall] officially opened on Saturday 26th March 1949 and Stretford Children's Theatre did Dick Whittington for the Mayor and Councillors.

In 1945 the HQ for the group was the house across the road from Old Trafford Station and it cost £1700 paid for by loans from the Chairman and his wife and Bertram Holland.
