Infant Group Sessions:
Storytelling, drama, movement, music & more, all packed into an amazing adventure to explore. Let your imaginations soar!
1. Begin with some focus games to settle the children as they are arriving
2. Name song - We sing the name song every week. Every child's name get's sung to welcome everybody back to the class in a happy & positive way
3. Physical warm up section - Here we play games that have an emphasis on warming up the children's bodies to get them ready for the session. We develop their physicality and body expression and encourage the children to really let go and enjoy their bodies!
4. Voice section - Here we play fun voice games to warm up their voices to get ready for the session. We develop the children's confidence of using their voice & speaking in front of others, and develop vocal range & intonation
5. Imaginary adventure section - Each term we have a theme. Past themes have included under the sea, magical ice kingdom, wild west, superheroes, fairytale forest, spies & detectives, harry potter.
Each session the children are led on an imaginary adventure into the world of the theme, and out of each adventure a story develops that continues each week. The adventure is facilitated loosely to allow space for the children's ideas to direct the adventure and lead the way!
In the adventure we use various art forms including drama, puppetry, the giant parachute, props, costumes, role-play, movement & dance, and music. The adventure stimulates each child's imagination and creativity and puts into practice all of the skills they learn & develop in the first half of the session, whilst also encouraging the children to work together and have lots of fun!
6. Cool down - Here we do relaxing activities or games that encourage the children to unwind and leave behind all the excitement of the session, and get ready to go home.

Junior Group Sessions:
Mica's Sessions:
Session begin differently each week depending on the topic and the mood. We may begin by becoming robots or we might start the session as a wild animal exploring it’s home, the rainforest. We aim to begin the session by letting go of the day we have had so we are feeling fresh and ready for action. We will then do a game to bring us into the space and connected with each other including a check in to see where we are all at and set the tone for the session. Over the session we play a wide range of different games to get us moving, and feeling confident. Some games will be silly, some serious, some require sharp wit, strong focus and attention. Some are more of an invitation to be playful whilst others challenge or offer delight. The main purpose is to get stuck in, give it a go and see what happens. These will all build up to the main activity of the session. Here we will split into groups or do partner work. There are a wide range of different exercises we will cover. Be it an improvisation, exploring different characters, creating their own band or exploring different situations. This generally leads up to a performance where the rest of the class become the audience. It’s here we turn the lights down, get the spot light on and the popcorn out. We offer the performers our full attention and afterwards discuss how we found the performance by sharing comments about what we liked and how we feel things could be improved. Finally to finish off we end with a sharing circle. It’s here the children are invited to take the talking stick and express how their feeling. The rest of us offer them our attention helping us all become brilliant active listeners and confident speakers. Then after all that we go home, hopefully feeling lighter, brighter and alive.

Senior Group Sessions:
Sessions start with question of the day, which brings everyone together, it allows space for new people to join and get to know everyone’s names and we also explain the plan for the rest of the session. We then facilitate a number of warm up games/exercises to get the young people warmed up physically and mental. We may also do a focused exercise getting the young people to work together as one. Then we lead onto improvising and devising which takes up about 45 minute’s of each of our sessions. The young people get to explore different characters, ideas, themes, topics etc depending on what the focus is for that term. We finish our sessions with a fun game/exercise and sometimes a bit of evaluation – what did they enjoy, what do they want to do more off, what they didn’t enjoy etc. |
